The general pay scale for this position at MOH is $17.99 - $27.67 per hour. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Under minimal supervision, manage internal surgery scheduling from physician orders as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain a close working relationship and strong communication with physicians. Reserve operating room date and time. Schedule anesthesia and surgical assistant and any outside surgical representatives and equipment necessary for the procedure.
  • Provide patients with pre-operative testing information ordered by the physician; obtain and interpret pre-operative testing results as directed.
  • Obtain necessary insurance authorization and pre-certification with proper CPT and ICD-10 codes; communicate surgical information, prep details, and appointment logistics to patients.
  • Orient, train and assign work to lower level staff as needed. Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Coordinate pre-operative appointments and scheduling tasks related to case type; notify necessary representatives (vendors, first assists, etc.); verify special products if required.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and authorize pre-operative clearance testing and diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, US, X-Ray).
  • Prepare and send required scheduling documentation to the surgical facility and physician for review/signature; manage EMR and Practice Management System notes as applicable.
  • Review patient procedure details, embedded protocols, and required preparations with the patient; confirm surgery date with patient, facility, and anesthesia.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations for scheduled procedures and ensure timely submission to payors; advocate for the patient and act as liaison among patient, payor, office, and facility.
  • Ensure reports (Pathology, OR, etc.) are captured in chart and coordinate follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Release OR blocks in accordance with policy to optimize OR utilization; manage financial and patient care commitments and related authorizations.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum three years of surgical practice/office experience, including experience with insurance authorization, verification and/or scheduling; ability to explain patient responsibilities per benefits plan.
  • Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to multitask. Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Occasionally lifts up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges.
