WWPS is hiring a
Senior Project Manager, Utility Electrical, to lead the utility electrical and high voltage substation scope for a large-scale data center project in Vernon, TX. This is a full time, 100% onsite role.
This is a high visibility owner’s representative role focused on the Futility electrical package, including the high voltage utility interconnection, substation, protection and controls, energization, and interface to the data center electrical distribution system. You will own execution across design, construction, commissioning, and turnover.

What Makes This Role Different- Owner’s representative leadership for the utility electrical and high voltage substation package
- Direct coordination across the serving utility, substation contractors, engineering teams, vendors, commissioning teams, and data center stakeholders
- Technical scope covering utility interconnection, transformers, breakers, switchyard equipment, protection and controls, metering, SCADA, grounding, and incoming power distribution
- Ownership of energization readiness, switching coordination, testing, commissioning, and turnover of mission critical power infrastructure
- A specialized role for a project leader who understands utility and substation construction, not only building level MEP electrical work
- Lead full lifecycle delivery of the utility electrical scope from design coordination and procurement through construction, energization, commissioning, and turnover
- Serve as the primary owner’s representative interface with the serving utility, electrical EPC or contractor, design engineers, equipment vendors, commissioning teams, and site leadership
- Manage high voltage substation and switchyard scope including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus, instrument transformers, control buildings, station service, grounding systems, cable systems, and associated civil interfaces
- Drive utility interconnection milestones, design approvals, long lead equipment procurement, outage and switching coordination, and required energization dates
- Review and challenge electrical single line diagrams, substation layouts, equipment submittals, protection and control schemes, relay coordination, grounding studies, and construction packages
- Oversee protection and controls, relaying, SCADA, telecom, revenue or utility metering, and the interfaces between utility systems and the data center electrical distribution network
- Coordinate installation and testing of high voltage and medium voltage cables, terminations, transformers, switch gear, breakers, grounding, and related electrical infrastructure
- Lead quality and commissioning readiness including factory acceptance testing, field acceptance testing, relay testing, electrical testing, punch resolution, and energization documentation
- Develop and manage safe energization, switching, lockout tagout, outage, and turnover plans in alignment with utility requirements, NEC, NESC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and project standards
- Control schedule, cost, risk, change management, contractor performance, and interface issues for the utility electrical workstream
