- That’s the focus of TCPalm’s trending reporter, who’s the newsroom’s top pageview-driver.
- We’re looking for a fast, creative, detail-oriented journalist to produce an average of 1 video and 2-3 quick-hit articles per day focused on the hottest topic of the day. This reporter must know how to tie state and national trending topics back to the Treasure Coast.
- This reporter must be technologically savvy enough to quickly create and post videos on TCPalm, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and other social media.
- This reporter must be a self-sufficient, self-taught, self-starter who develops our coverage based on Google Trends, social media and USA Today Co.’s in-house analytics.
- Mastery of SEO is essential.
- Proactive collaboration with everyone in the TCPalm newsroom, Florida network, and USA Today corporation is very important.
- Hours typically are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, but could change as needed.
- A bachelor's or master’s in communications, journalism or a related field
- Experience in a digital-first newsroom is preferred.
- Strong skills in spelling, grammar, punctuation, AP style, communication, news judgment, SEO headline writing
- Ability to produce photos and videos on a smartphone
- Ability to produce maps, charts, timelines and other graphics on in-house platforms
- Proficiency on all social media platforms, especially Tik Tok
- Being comfortable branding yourself and promoting your content
- Ability to multitask under deadline pressure and work efficiently and collaboratively
- An acceptance and understanding of how digital analytics inform our coverage, and a willingness to evaluate how content is resonating with our audience and to change what’s not
- Working nights, weekends and holidays as needed
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and minimum state-required liability insurance
