Ability to develop and implement an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Knowledge of child development and characteristics of students with disabilities. Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of current educational research related to the education and training of children with disabilities. Basic understanding of current technology. Skill in using varied teaching and communication methods to address student needs. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to assess student achievement levels, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement. Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment. Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others. Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures related to the education of students with disabilities, as well as adaptive devices, techniques, therapies, and medical procedures required.
Knowledge of Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and Teacher Competencies.
Job Summary:
To provide instruction in an appropriate setting according to the IEP to meet students' needs.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
2. Valid Florida teacher certification in the appropriate area (Pre Kindergarten-Primary and/or Exceptional Student Education preferred).
3. Pre Kindergarten Disabilities Endorsement preferred.
4. Must meet No Child Left Behind Act regulations and requirements.
5. Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
