Application and Eligibility Requirements- Submit an application and the current processing fee of $75.00 with the Florida Department of Education.
- Has been approved for volunteer status and completes fingerprinting through the FDLE and FBI after being accepted for a coaching role.
- Meets the specialization requirements for the Athletic Coaching Endorsement (Rule 6A-4.0282), which include:
- Three (3) semester hours in Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries and the effects and dangers of drug use, including performance‑enhancing drugs.
- Three (3) semester hours in coaching theory.
- Three (3) semester hours in theory and practice of coaching a specific sport.
- A valid CPR certificate from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- First Aid certification, including training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

All coaches who do not hold a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate are required to obtain either a Three‑Year or Five‑Year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate.
Three‑Year Athletic Coaching CertificateMay be issued to an individual who:
- Submits an application and the current processing fee of $75.00 with the Florida Department of Education.
- Has been approved to volunteer and completes fingerprinting through the FDLE and FBI after being accepted for a coaching role.

- Submits an application and the current processing fee of $75.00 with the Florida Department of Education.
- Meets the specialization requirements for the Athletic Coaching Endorsement (Rule 6A-4.0282). See above for specific coursework requirements.
- Has been approved for employment and completed fingerprinting (FDLE/FBI), with results no older than one year.
The course requirements may be met through college coursework or the Human Kinetics Athletic Coaching Endorsement program, which is approved under the School District of Indian River County’s Master Inservice Plan.
