SDIRC Steps to Employment as an Athletic Coach

Orientation includes the following fees:

• Fingerprinting - $82.00
• Workplace screening - $31.00

Total: $113.00, payable to SDIRC by check or money order only

Once all requirements are met, the coach’s name will be submitted for School Board approval. The coach may not work with students until approval is completed.

Athletic Coaching Certification:

All coaches without a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate must hold either a three-year or five-year Florida Athletic Coaching Certificate.

Three-year Athletic Coaching Certificate:

• Apply with a $75.00 fee oe.org/edcert/apply.asp
• Obtain employment and have fingerprints processed by FDLE and FBI after employment offer acceptance.

Five-year Athletic Coaching Certificate:

• Apply with a $75.00 fee oe.org/edcert/apply.asp
• Satisfy specific coursework requirements in injury prevention, coaching theory, sport-specific coaching, and CPR certification.
• Obtain employment and fingerprints processed by FDLE and FBI within one year.

Coursework requirements may be fulfilled through college courses or the Athletic Coaching Endorsement program through the district’s Master Inservice Plan. For more information, contact Professional Development at .
