Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst
Under limited direction, performs professional accounting work, including preparing and analyzing financial reports, reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization’s financial operations. Performs related duties as assigned. This position works under the general supervision of the Finance Director and may provide guidance to other accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and general ledger transactions.
- Perform monthly reconciliations, including bank accounts, cash, subsidiary ledgers, clearing accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with project accounting, capital improvement program tracking, and enterprise fund financial activities.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including account analysis, variance research, and preparation of schedules.
- Prepare audit documentation and supporting work papers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with audit requests.
- Review AP, AR, grant, and project accounting documentation for accuracy and proper account coding.
- Maintain reconciliation files, schedules, and supporting documentation in accordance with internal control and documentation standards.
- Assist with grant reporting, preparation of SEFA schedules, and compliance-related documentation.
- Provide backup support for routine accounting functions as needed.
- Assist in workflow improvements and documentation of accounting processes.
- Knowledge of governmental auditing, finance and accounting methods, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of City, federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing accounting and finance practices.
- Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and fund accounting principles, preferred.
- Knowledge of financial systems.
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel (Intermediate to advanced) and financial software/ERP systems.
- Ability to analyze financial or computer data and additional information in the assessment and analysis of financial data, to forecast economic trends, and present management reports.
- Skill in analyzing statistical and financial information.
- Ability to perform reconciliations and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, department directors, regulatory agencies, employees and the general public.
- Ability to express ideas clearly when providing oral and written reports and recommendations on administrative, financial, and technical issues.
Education/
Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and four (4) years of professional accounting experience in budget and fiscal analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Government accounting experience preferred.
Licenses/Certification:
Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
