Overview
Main Street Vero Beach (MSVB) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and revitalizing historic downtown Vero Beach. As a proud member of Florida Main Street and Main Street America, MSVB works to foster economic growth, celebrate culture, and create vibrant community spaces. Through grassroots programs, events, and beautification initiatives, we bring people together and strengthen the heartbeat of our city.
We are seeking 2–3 passionate and community-minded volunteers to help us grow and strengthen MSVB’s mission. Volunteers will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and committees to support both the day-to-day operations of the organization and our large-scale community events.
Volunteer RoleVolunteer Role:
Assistant to the Executive Director & MSVB Committees
Location:
Vero Beach, FL (remote & onsite at 2046 14th Avenue, once office renovations are complete)
Commitment:
Flexible hours, 10am–4pm M–F, part-time or full-time options, plus occasional evenings/weekends for events
Compensation:
Volunteer position (non-paid). Rewards include community recognition, networking, and the opportunity to shape the future of downtown Vero Beach.
Administrative & Secretarial Support
- Answer phone calls, emails, and event inquiries (MSVB phone provided, desktop available upon office return)
- Assist with scheduling, filing, and general office support.
- Provide remote admin help, with onsite opportunities once renovations are complete.
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Connect with local businesses and building owners to foster relationships.
- Help grow MSVB membership and vendor networks.
- Distribute information about upcoming events, programs, and initiatives.
Committee Involvement
- Participate in one or more MSVB committees:
Design, Economic Development, Organization, or Promotions. - Support projects that preserve the historic charm of downtown while promoting growth and innovation.
Event Assistance
- Be part of planning and executing Vero Beach’s most beloved events, including Downtown Fridays, Mural Festival, Classic Movie Nights, Coffee with the Mayor, Tech Innovation Summit, and related activities.
- Assist with setup, vendor coordination, hospitality, and community engagement.
- Passion for community building and supporting local businesses.
- Strong organizational, communication, and people skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer and email skills; social media knowledge a plus.
- Flexible schedule; willingness to occasionally work evenings/weekends during events.
- Be at the heart of Vero Beach’s most exciting community events and initiatives.
- Build lasting relationships with business leaders, artists, and community members.
- Gain valuable nonprofit, event management, and outreach experience.
- Receive community recognition and appreciation for your contributions.
- Help shape the future of downtown Vero Beach as part of a grassroots movement.
