Utilities Service Worker – Water Distribution

Performs a variety of activities in the maintenance, construction, and repair of utility mains and facilities. This is a semiskilled position, working under the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor and crew leader.

• High School Diploma / GED
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• No experience required; on‑the‑job training provided to obtain required licenses.
• Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)
• Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire, a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire, a Florida Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License.

• Perform repairs to water distribution systems
• Install and maintain service lines
• Operate a variety of trucks and equipment
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools
• Respond to after‑hours calls while serving on‑call
• Knowledge of and skill in the use of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting
• Knowledge of the construction and repair of utility facilities
• Knowledge of water and sewer systems
• Ability to work from sketches, maps, and blueprints
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Good physical ability; strength to do heavy lifting and carrying, and to work under adverse weather conditions
• Ability to operate various types of power tools and equipment used to install, maintain, or repair utility mains and services
• Ability to work on‑call
