Position: LTE REGISTERED NURSE (BPHCC)

Position Summary

The Dane County Department of Human Services (DCDHS) - Badger Prairie Health Care Center (BPHCC) is recruiting for limited term employment (LTE) Registered Nurses (RNs). The LTE RN position offers flexible scheduling based on facility need and the individual’s availability, without requiring a fixed weekend rotation. LTE RN’s are requested to work two weekend shifts per month based on availability.

Limited Term Employees (LTEs) are limited to working 1,200 hours per payroll year and are not guaranteed any specific hours per week.

Definition

This position is located in the Badger Prairie Health Care Center (BPHCC). Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Manager, incumbents in this classification perform skilled nursing services within the scope of the Registered Nurse License. Coordinate and provide resident care on the households/neighborhoods. Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff. Collaborate with inter‑disciplinary teams. Perform other related work as required.

Examples

of Duties
  • Identifies resident care needs and develops and implements the plan of care for residents.
  • Records resident information in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepares and administers medication to residents.
  • Performs prescribed nursing treatments.
  • Completes resident assessments.
  • Observes and records resident’s response to medication, physical and mental condition.
  • Coordinates the duties and responsibilities for the shift with the charge nurse, Clinical Care Coordinator and/or the Nurse Manager.
  • Communicates and coordinates implementation of the care plan.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate and evaluate resident care.
  • Monitors CNA performance of duties for completeness and adherence with resident’s plan of care.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident personal health information and complies with all HIPAA requirements.
  • Assumes charge nurse functions, including scheduling. May care for residents who have infectious pathogens.
Education, Training and Experience

Applicants must possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Certifications/Licenses

Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse and legally able to practice as such in the State of Wisconsin. Must also be certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Special Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent.
  • Access to a telephone.
  • No previous criminal convictions for abuse, mistreatment or neglect of others.
  • Free of clinically apparent communicable disease.
