The Coordinator – International Student Services supervises the international student services team for day-to-day activities as well as participates in strategic planning for the team and as related to the department and to the college’s strategic goals. The position collaborates with other areas of Camosun International, the Registrar’s Office, college schools and other departments to ensure current students are provided with the necessary academic, registration, and immigration advising support.

The coordinator maintains a department specific and integrated view of student services processes and systems, and how these processes and systems interface and relate to other departments and the college community.

This position works with a large volume of confidential and sensitive documents and information. Will require working between campuses and occasional overtime.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Supervises and schedules the international student services team – International Student Academic Advisors & International Student Experience Advisors – for maximum productivity; sets registration, academic advising, and immigration advising priorities for the team and ensures related services are completed within the set time frames;

Participates in the recruitment, orientation, and training of the international student services team including coordinating training schedules, prioritizing training topics, updating training resources, identifying new training needs both within the unit and Camosun International in general;

As requested by supervisor, when recruitment is required, develops selection criteria in accordance with collective agreements to meet service expectations and position requirements;

Acts as the first point of contact for complex student advising issues, resolving queries and making recommendations for further investigation, training or procedural changes; may also act as department contact/spokesperson when directed by supervisor;

Provides relevant data to supervisor and Camosun International management team for the development of the annual international student services plan and service strategies;

Provides information and guidance to program leaders, chairs, and other college community members relating to international enrolment and registration;

Researches and recommends new, innovative business processes and procedures that improve student experience and support the development and implementation of best practices in strategic enrolment management for efficiencies within international student services and for the college’s strategic plan;

Participates in and makes recommendations on the development, review and improvement and maintenance of related reporting processes, procedures, systems and tracking tools;

Takes a leadership role to identify and produce departmental specific communications to target groups within the college community, using a variety of methods such as but not limited to newsletter, social media, and email communication;
