Rate of Pay: $23.78 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits

Hours of Work: 17.5 hours/week, 12:45‑4:15 pm Monday‑Friday March 16‑20 and March 23‑27

Summary

This position is responsible for the planning, preparation, implementation and delivery of active and engaging tennis camp programming for school‑age children. The incumbent will positively impact the children and families involved, collaborate with Tennis Camp Assistant Leader(s) and Day Camp Inclusion Assistant(s), and be an important member of the Panorama Recreation team. The role ensures children are engaged and provided with developmentally and age‑appropriate programming while maintaining participant safety and wellbeing throughout.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, successful, healthy and enjoyable tennis camp programming for school‑age children.
  • Plan and deliver a series of lessons with a tactical or technical focus, along with other engaging, developmentally and age‑appropriate day camp activities such as cooperative group games, arts and crafts, and dramatic play.
  • Prepare equipment necessary for instruction and planned activities before the start of each session.
  • Ensure equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
  • Provide constructive guidance and feedback to participants, including guidance on appropriate behaviour during play and activities.
  • Ensure clear and respectful communication with players, parents/guardians, supervisors and coworkers.
  • Collaborate with Tennis Camp Assistant Leader(s) and Day Camp Inclusion Assistant(s).
  • Provide excellent service to both internal and external customers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Keep accurate attendance records.
  • Follow policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Key Skills & Abilities
  • Experience assisting or leading recreational programs for school‑age children
  • Minimum skill level of play: 4.0
  • Ability to increase or decrease the difficulty of drills to customize lessons
  • Possess the playing, demonstration and feeding abilities to work with players up to a 3.5 skill level
Qualifications
  • High School Graduation
  • A minimum of 1 year directly related experience
Certifications
  • Acceptable criminal record check:
    The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid that may be related to their employment.
  • Tennis Canada Instructor Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR‑C
