Chief Building and Plumbing Inspector

The City of Victoria seeks a Chief Building and Plumbing Inspector to guide a skilled inspection team in a vibrant urban setting. This full-time role involves conducting inspections, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with local codes and safety standards. Strong technical knowledge, risk management, and leadership skills are crucial for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate a team of approximately 7 FTE inspectors

• Review and approve building permit applications for compliance

• Conduct site inspections and ensure adherence to safety requirements

• Prepare reports and present findings to Council or committee meetings

• Negotiate sign permit applications and represent the City at hearings

Requirements:

• Technical School Diploma or equivalent

• 6 years of related experience in construction inspection

• Must obtain BOABC Building Level 3 and Plumbing Level 2 Qualification

• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence required

• Up-to-date knowledge of the trade
