Vice-Principal (Grades K-5) – KELSET Elementary School
Effective starting August 1, 2026, in Kelset Elementary School located on the Saanich Peninsula near Victoria, BC.
Qualifications- Masters degree in educational leadership, curriculum development, supervision of instruction, counselling or a related field.
- Current teaching Certificate of Qualification from the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Demonstrated excellence as a teacher and instructional leader at the elementary school level.
- Proven record of positive working relationships with students, parents, employee groups and the broader community.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion and reconciliation, with an understanding of the WSÁNEĆ First Nation and broader Indigenous communities.
- Commitment to the First Peoples Principles of Learning.
- Collaborative, consensus‑seeking leadership style.
- Highly effective and respectful communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Thorough understanding of effective assessment and evaluation practices.
- Demonstration of innovative practices within an inquiry‑based teaching and learning environment.
- Experience leading initiatives supporting students with complex learning needs.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Assist the Principal with vision, leadership, and development of exceptional school programming including the School Plan and associated initiatives.
- Provide instructional leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment and evaluation.
- Enhance a consultative, collaborative, teamwork approach in the school, with district colleagues, and with district partners including the local WSÁNEĆ First Nation.
- Promote and implement the First Peoples Principles of Learning, including advocacy of indigenizing curriculum and instruction.
- Advocate for diverse learning needs.
- Shared management of school facilities, resources and associated concerns pertaining to site safety, emergency preparedness and community use, including some evening responsibilities.
- Develop, support and maintain relationships that encourage positive student behaviour through restitution and restorative practices.
- Collaborate with district leadership including the Superintendent's office, Indigenous Education, Learning Services, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, and Facilities on a wide range of topics including implementation of the Board's Strategic Plan.
The Saanich School District offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary range: $134,174 – $141,771.
