Educational Assistant – Bridge Training Program

We offer a variety of specialty programs, from athletic academies and career preparation to French immersion and a Challenge program.
We are offering a three-week condensed training program designed to get aspiring Educational Assistants classroom ready.
Requirements for acceptance into the program
Legally able to work in Canada upon completion of the program
Grade 12 or equivalent
One (1) year Education Assistant or Community Support Worker certificate or equivalent combination of post‑secondary courses in child/adolescent development, or behavior management including non‑violent crisis intervention techniques.
Experience working with vulnerable children
First Aid and CPR certified, or willingness to get certified
Ability to commit each day of the full three‑week course (please do not apply if you cannot attend these dates)
Interest and capability to be gainfully employed by the School District at the conclusion of the program
Completion of this program could lead to an Educational Assistant Spare board position with the Greater Victoria School District. The positions offer regular call outs leading to continuing assignments of 26-30 hours per week, a competitive hourly rate (Spare board at $30.62/hr) and a comprehensive pension and benefits package.
Acceptance to this program will be based on an interview to be conducted over Microsoft Teams and completion of reference checks. A job offer is not guaranteed at the end of the program, however that is the hopeful outcome. Job offers will be based on performance during the three week Educational Assistant Training Program.
This program is free of charge to all accepted applicants and applicants must commit to attending each day of the in person three week training program.
