RequirementsWe seek an exceptional scientist with a creative and ambitious research program that addresses fundamental questions in the molecular life sciences. We particularly encourage applications from researchers who employ innovative biochemical approaches to advance our understanding of fundamental molecular and cellular processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to establish a leading independent research program that complements, strengthens, or expands the School's research expertise and contributes to its collaborative research environment.
We seek an individual with a PhD and postdoctoral training who will contribute to our highly collegial and collaborative environment. Candidates should demonstrate: (1) an innovative, mechanism-driven research program that advances understanding of the molecular basis of health and disease; (2) creativity, originality, and a clear vision for the future of their field; and (3) the potential to establish a high-quality, externally funded research program that complements and strengthens existing areas of excellence within the School.
Evidence will include a strong publication record, a clear and competitive research plan, and reference letters addressing leadership, collegiality, and potential for research independence. The successful candidate will also demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and advising, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion in research and education.
The School of Molecular Life Sciences is a collaborative, research-intensive community focused on understanding how molecular and cellular systems function in health, disease, and the environment. Our research spans fundamental discovery through translational application, with strengths in defining molecular mechanisms, understanding interactions among cells, microbes, and their environments, and developing new approaches to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. This position will advance the School’s strategic priority to strengthen biochemistry as a core area of research and teaching, while expanding capacity in Molecular and Microbial Pathogenesis and Genome Biology and Cell Signalling.
The School is home to the University of Victoria Genome BC Proteomics Centre, one of Canada’s leading proteomics and metabolomics facilities, with state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and…
