Drive environmental compliance as a Regional Environmental Preparedness and Response Officer with Transport Canada in Vancouver or Victoria, BC. The role focuses on oil spill safety and regulation enforcement.
In this GT-05 position, you will have vital responsibilities in compliance oversight and emergency management, aligning with Transport Canada’s strategic initiatives. Your duties will include conducting inspections of oil handling facilities and working collaboratively to develop emergency preparedness plans across varied partners in the industry.
Your role is critical in minimizing environmental risks related to oil transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure regulatory compliance through facility inspections
• Review emergency preparedness plans and exercises
• Support the Regional Enforcement Unit in compliance actions
• Engage with industry and government stakeholders for collaboration
• Develop working tools and support policy implementation
Requirements:
• Secondary school diploma or suitable alternative
• Experience in conducting inspections or regulatory monitoring
• Knowledge of the Canada Shipping Act and oil spill prevention
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Adaptable to marine and industrial environments
