Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is seeking Maintenance People for Oak Bay, Henderson, and Monterey Recreation Centre. Under the direction of the Lead Hand this position is responsible for keeping the facilities clean, the equipment in working order, and programs running on time. Our Auxiliary staff enjoy a free Staff Pass when they work one shift per week, flexibility in hours to accommodate different lifestyles, a culture that cares about work-life balance, and 14% pay on top of their hourly wage in lieu of benefits.

• Overall cleanliness of the facilities.
• Set up of rooms as per set schedule.
• Vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping as required.
• Cleanliness of washrooms and change room areas.
• Performs routine minor maintenance on equipment, pool chemistry, and data readings as needed.

• Sound working knowledge and experience with building maintenance and cleaning routines.
• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various equipment.
• Proven initiative and ability to work without close supervision.
• Current CPR-C certification.
• Provision of a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (

• Day shifts (Up to 8 hours)
• Afternoon shifts (5-8 hours)
• Night shifts (Up to 10 hours)

Note:

The hours and lengths of our shifts vary according to staff availability and program needs. Chances are we have something that will work for you!

Oak Bay Recreation Centre, Henderson Recreation Centre, and/or Monterey Recreation Centre

$27.41/hr ($24.04 per hour plus $3.37 per hour in lieu of benefits) – 2024 rates

Auxiliary (This is a union position)

• 14% in lieu of benefits per hour.
• Staff Membership to drop-in the weight room, fitness classes, skating, and pool (applicable to employees with 1 or more set shifts per week)
