Location: Oak Bay

Support aquatic life as a Freshwater Aquaculture Technician at Oak Bay Hatchery. This position encompasses crucial responsibilities from brood stock production to maintaining optimal water conditions.

You will be part of a dedicated team focused on efficiently running fish hatcheries. Key tasks include handling spawning and egg production, along with maintaining aquaculture equipment and monitoring water quality. Attention to detail is vital for successful fish rearing. Availability for varied shifts, including weekends, is a must, as you will also need to respond promptly to alarms in the hatchery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in fish hatchery operations and brood stock management

• Monitor oxygen levels in water and keep records

• Feed stocks and perform vaccinations

• Operate and clean hatchery systems and equipment

• Grade and weigh fish stocks accurately

Requirements:

• Completed training from a recognized aquaculture program

• Hands-on experience in fish rearing is beneficial

• Prior exposure to water quality testing is an asset

• Ability to lift brood fish as required

• Competency in computer usage for logging data
