* Job Description:
** The EWR Coordinator will monitor the weather patterns to determine when the EWR program needs to operate. They will send /gather information on who is operating and send notifications to service providers throughout the community during the winter season about the activation and the mat programs available. The coordinator will assist the ARC and other service providers to prepare for emergency weather events and maintain collaborative relationships key community stakeholders.
This position will complete reporting requirements as per the contractual obligations with BC housing.
** Accountabilities:
** The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below:
* Monitor weather patterns and determine the need to operate the EWR.
* Notify the service providers and determine who is able to operate on any given EWR activation.
* Send out notification to key stakeholders when the emergency programs are operating and
* determine when the activation will be rescinded as per the criteria in the community plan.
* Assist in maintaining strong collaborative relationships with community service providers and stakeholders.
* Develop strong working relationships with EWR service providers and stakeholder organizations.
* Monitor weather patterns using Environment Canada and other weather reporting organizations to determine, based on criteria, the operation of the EWR services.
* Notify the service providers of activation and deactivate when weather improves.
* Coordinate the formal notification of stakeholder organizations of the activation and deactivation.
* Coordinate community meetings every two months to discuss processes and activations throughout the winter period. These meetings are designed to improve communication with the community and key service providers with the EWR coordination organization and manage any concerns or issues as they arise.
* Provide media information and referral of media to appropriate individual to manage and monitor media.
* Monitor media for information or concerning articles and mitigate with the assistance of BC housing communications and outstanding issues in the community.
* Gather data, research and required information to support the annual reporting requirements for the EWR program.
* Develop an annual report for submission to BC housing as per contract obligations
* Bi-monthly community meetings and report back on EWR program activations, capacity levels, and operational concerns
* Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
