VCA Canada Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital is accepting applications for our 2026 Summer Veterinary Student DVM position
. This is a great opportunity to apply your classroom studies within a hospital environment and acquire first-hand experience in working closely with VCA Canada veterinary professionals.
Our Summer DVM Student position will provide you with invaluable insights into your career path post-graduation. As a valued member of our team, you will develop practical and professional skills by working under a licensed veterinarian and/or registered technicians/technologists.
You will be introduced to the inner workings of our hospitals while also gaining
exposure and education in the following areas:
Patient intake and triage
Patient handling and restraint
Client care and relationship management
Treatment and hands-on compassionate care
Observe or assist in surgical & non-surgical procedures, and anesthesia
Assist with laboratory and imaging diagnostics
Train in the use of in-house practice management software
General hospital maintenance
* The amount of responsibility, duties, supervision, and delegation will depend on your veterinary school year and provincial veterinary legislation guidelines*
Requirements:
Applicants must be enrolled in an AVMA-accredited DVM program
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Must be able to repeatedly lift at least 40 lbs
