Location: Saanich
Join the Saanich Forestry Centre team as a Nursery Summer Student at Western Forest Products. This 8-month role offers exceptional training in seedling crop maintenance and greenhouse practices.
Running from May to December, this position is ideal for students pursuing degrees in forestry, horticulture, or biology. You will have the opportunity to learn about crop irrigation, growth measurement, and greenhouse upkeep in a vibrant nursery setting. This practical training is crucial for building a successful career in forestry and horticulture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Irrigate and monitor the health of nursery crops
• Record growth measurements of seedlings
• Perform weeding and general greenhouse maintenance
• Assist with greenhouse poly installations
• Foster teamwork while supervising seasonal workers
Requirements:
• Enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program
• Familiarity with nursery or horticultural settings
• Ability to operate basic nursery equipment
• Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
• Robust physical capability for fieldwork
