Provide crucial support as a Shelter Support Worker with The Salvation Army. Be a part of the Extreme Weather Response team and assist individuals seeking shelter and warmth.
This casual role at the Victoria ARC runs from October 15, 2026, to April 15, 2027, with on-call overnight shifts required. You'll play a vital role in ensuring client well-being, serving meals, and managing shelter operations. Your ability to respond to various situations and provide compassionate care will be critical.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive and assist clients with check-in procedures
• Monitor shelter operations and food service logistics
• Address safety issues and mitigate conflicts
• Conduct regular site cleanliness checks
• Assist in reporting incidents to the appropriate teams
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent educational background
• Non Violent Crisis Intervention or related training
• Experience in trauma-informed care practices
• Active Occupational First Aid Certificate
• Must pass a thorough Background Check
