Job Summary
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) assist clients with all the activities of daily living, personal cares, and program implementation. They are responsible for the daily well‑being and safety of the clients while ensuring adequate supervision. DSPs also assist with household maintenance and housekeeping to support the home.
Location and SchedulesMount Olivet Rolling Acres (MORA) is a diverse and inclusive nonprofit supporting adults, seniors and children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, and chronic medical conditions for over 50 years in the Twin Cities metro. Schedules:
Days 7am‑3pm, Evenings 2pm‑10pm, Rotating Weekends.
Hourly Base Rate: $18.50 per hour.
Weekend differential: +$2.00 per hour for hours between Friday 10pm and Sunday 10pm.
Overnight differential: +$1.00 per hour for hours between 10pm and 6am.
Sleep hours only when assigned: $12.13 per hour.
Retention Bonus: $1,500 for full‑time staff & $750 for part‑time staff, paid over 1 year.
- Assists clients with daily cares, medical needs and supports, ADLs and mental health supports.
- Provides daily routine opportunities for choice and creative options, including hygiene, domestic tasks, leisure, grooming, socializing, budgeting, money usage, safety and health, studying, homework, and community participation.
- Plans and implements recreation, leisure and community activities.
- Drives to/from and accompanies client/s at appointments and community activities using a company vehicle during all hours of operation.
- Assists individuals in establishing and maintaining community relationships and facilitating friendships.
- Demonstrates understanding of the person as a unique individual and implements programs in accordance with the Coordinated Service and Support Plan (CSSP), CSSP‑A, and Individual Abuse Prevention Plan.
- Provides person‑centered services demonstrated through practice, action, and language.
- Maintains working knowledge of person(s) history, skills, vulnerabilities, habilitation plans, and emergency procedures.
- Participates in the support team process and assists with developing and implementing goals.
- Maintains and performs proper administration and documentation of all prescribed medication, treatments, diets, and exams.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA and MORA policies and procedures.
- Prepares meals following planned menu for clients in the home and completes weekly food ordering as needed and/or scheduled.
- Assists with daily housekeeping and household maintenance.
- Completes house quality improvement assessments and addresses identified issues as needed.
- Ensures adequate supervision of clients, including remaining on shift until a replacement employee arrives.
- Works harmoniously and shows respect to all internal and external individuals.
- Communicates effectively with others at work verbally and in writing using the primary spoken language of clients in the home.
- Completes all mandatory training either determined by MORA or 245D regulations.
- Reads and follows company policies and procedures.
- Remains awake at all times unless working an assigned sleeping shift.
- Documents program data and daily log information accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Collaborates with the team to complete other duties as assigned or as needed.
- At least 1 year of experience with clients with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Interest in supporting clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or mental health needs.
- Must pass Department of Human Services background check and maintain qualified status.
- Must not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office of Inspector General.
- Must be able to successfully complete the company’s physical job demands document.
- Must have a valid current driver’s license and vehicle insurance as required by state law.
- Successful completion of Medication Administration class, regularly passes medications using correct procedure without error.
