News Producer

The Victoria Television Group, a Morgan Murphy Media company, has an opening for an innovative, audience-minded News Producer at KAVU-TV. You’ll work with the 25 News Now team to produce compelling content on 25 News Now newscasts, , our app, and social media platforms owned and operated by The Victoria Television Group. You'll join a team in the Crossroads close to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.

• Create, develop, and produce news, weather, and sports content for KAVU-TV 25 News Now and Crossroads Today.
• Work with the entire team and other news managers to formulate a plan that maximizes the success of the 25 News Now newscasts.
• Help coordinate special coverage projects and election coverage for the newsroom and station, and respond to breaking news and weather.
• Update the news staff daily on information related to top news stories of the day and as the news changes throughout the day.
• Be creative, flexible, and have an interest in digital and social media.
• Drive audience growth strategy by producing compelling newscasts and publishing compelling content.
• Proactively seek out and produce news content, generate story ideas, and promote Crossroads Today through social media platforms like Tik Tok, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to flexible schedules and thrive in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
• Knowledge of AP style.
• Basic Adobe Photoshop skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
• Ability to excel under tight deadlines.
