Job DescriptionAs a Machine Operator I/II, the ideal candidate will learn to do the job and learn company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks. They will follow written procedures and verbal instructions to accomplish assignments of a routine and repetitive nature. Considered an apprentice or trainee with moderate understanding of the general job aspects and superficial understanding of the technical parts of the job.
Responsibilities- Follow all company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Perform duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to the Senior Operator, Production Supervisor, Team Lead or Safety Manager. Act as a role model for safety on shift.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area; meet plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant.
- Assist operators with extruder start‑ups and thread up equipment with film (e.g., winders, folders, bag machines, printers). Thread up the tower with rope.
- Change the formula percentages on blenders according to the Traveler Report and verify that the blender makes correct batches. Zero out scale blenders and set hopper fill times.
- Identify when the vacuum pump filter, screen pack, sock sleeve on stabilizer, or print plate on printer is dirty or worn and replace or clean as needed.
- Assist in giving breaks to packers on the lines.
- Participate in employee‑driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production‑related issues.
- If assigned to Roll Stock, be capable of becoming forklift certified.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Experience: 1‑2 years mechanical experience or previous machine operator experience preferred.
Other desired qualifications: Good communication skills, willingness to ask questions and work in a fast‑paced environment. Motivated, energetic and eager to learn.
Shift Information: 8‑hour shifts with overtime as required.
