Skilled Trades Apprentice Plumber

Primary Purpose

Assist plumbers with repairs and all work orders assigned to the plumbing department. Maintain a clean and safe environment.

• Education/Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver's license
• Experience
  • Prior experience as apprentice helper is desirable
• Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Physically fit with good manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination and sense of balance
  • Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds
  • Good human relations skills and ability to work with others
  • Learn/progress toward journeyman classification
  • Learn/progress skills necessary to use mini jetter, camera locator and electrical auger

  • Tools/Equipment Used:
    Hand and power tools, sewer rooter, torch, ladder and light truck or van.
  • Posture/Motion/Lifting:
    Continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying, and heavy lifting. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside.
  • Environment:
    Exposure to extreme temperatures, frequent district‑wide travel, work indoors and outdoors, conduct on‑site inspection of all facilities and construction projects; work around machinery with moving parts; work on ladders or scaffolding.
  • Mental Demands:
    Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times.

• Assist plumbers in completing work orders.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Organize materials as instructed.
• Abide by all safety rules.

• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
• You will be required to be on a security and on‑call rotation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
