Director of Emergency Department, a Registered Nurse, assumes 24‑hour administrative responsibility for managing and coordinating all Emergency Care Nursing Service functions.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care delivery.
- Developing and implementing departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
- Directly accountable to the CNO or Administrator, supervising and evaluating all ED staff and managing nursing personnel and time resources.
- Consulting and communicating with staff, physicians, and administration—both written and verbally—to address nursing issues and hospital policy interpretations.
- Interacting with outside agencies, patients, and patients’ families/significant others to provide comprehensive care.
- Providing triage and treatment to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in the emergency setting.
- Responding to codes, assessing and charting, and ensuring appropriate documentation throughout the hospital.
- Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certificates upon hire and ongoing maintenance.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
- Minimum of two years supervisory/management experience.
- Minimum of three years continuous clinical experience in an acute care setting.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required for all new hires after 1/11/2021.
Competitive compensation ranges from $ to $ annually, including wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hiring based on qualifications and experience.
