Job SummaryThe RN coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in the cardiology department, supporting medical providers and interprofessional teams. Responsibilities include admission assessment, bedside nursing care, medication administration, patient education, surgical procedure assistance, and quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and at each shift, identifying and reporting changes.
- Evaluate patient environment for safety risks and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor pain and implement effective pain management, performing reassessments as needed.
- Identify signs of abuse or neglect and report to appropriate parties.
- Perform procedures and monitoring as ordered, documenting care in a timely manner.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and intervene as required.
- Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs and resolving issues proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow‑up care.
- Earn the confidence of patients by translating complex terminology into understandable language.
- Manage a care team, delegating tasks and providing support.
- Implement evidence‑based practices and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate holistic patient treatment plans with a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain readiness of the surgical suite, including instrument setup, chart accuracy, and supply availability.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including IV therapy, pre‑operative meds, and positioning.
- Participate in surgical site verification, time‑out, and debriefing protocols.
- Scrub or circulate for procedures, serving as first assistant if credentialed, and operating essential equipment.
- Monitor vital signs and comfort level throughout procedures, alerting the team of changes.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies in a calm, controlled manner.
- Ensure adherence to quality and safety regulations during intra‑operative processes.
- Model professional nursing practice, promoting pride in nursing for the organization, community, and healthcare industry.
- Advocate for patient‑ and family‑centered care in all decisions and actions.
- Engage in evidence‑based practices that enhance patient experience, including safety rounding and communication fundamentals.
- Clarify how patient experience behaviors integrate into quality, safety, and nursing practice.
- Communicate clearly, actively listening, and escalating care concerns appropriately.

- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
