HDR’s Transportation Business Group shapes the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. As a Transit Engineering Leader, you will guide a growing practice in the Mid‑Atlantic (Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia), providing programmatic and technical leadership as well as project management for transit‑engineering contracts.
Responsibilities- Provide programmatic and technical leadership for transit engineering disciplines.
- Deliver project management for a variety of transit engineering related contracts (track, structures, facilities, and systems) for our clients.
- Guide program growth, client engagement, and industry involvement.
- Establish client relations and participate in marketing and client development activities.
- Prepare scopes and fees for a variety of contracts and projects.
- Collaborate with other disciplines on staff assignments and assignment priorities.
- Manage contract administration.
- Mentor junior staff and support team growth.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Active engagement in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
- Experience with Mid‑Atlantic Area transit agencies such as WMATA, MTA, VRE, VPRA, and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local standards and requirements related to transit project delivery processes (conceptual design, feasibility, environmental documentation, PS&E, DSDC).
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
- 10 years of experience in transit engineering.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and possesses related technical experience.
- Experience in developing and managing diverse teams.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.

The expected compensation range for this position varies by skills, experience, education and geographical location:
Baltimore, MD: $149,352 - $213,360;
Washington, DC: $170,688 - $243,840.
