WORK SCHEDULE:
This full-time civil engineering position typically works Monday - Friday from 9 am - 3 pm. Outside of those core hours, the schedule is flexible!
YOUR ROLE AS A HIGHWAY DESIGN / ROADWAY ENGINEER:
Our Highway Design / Roadway Engineer is essential to the success of our company! Your daily tasks involve helping prepare engineering designs, studies, and reports to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure. Further, you take charge when brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. Through design, study, and report preparation, you ensure we are meeting criteria and compliance with all appropriate applications of technical methods.
You also work hands-on when developing engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings, and estimates.
When appropriate, you take opportunities to participate in presentations and perform inspections and research in the field. You also assist with training and mentoring new employees. Finally, you help ensure our projects are of the highest quality as you monitor current roadway design trends and methodologies. Ultimately, we rely on you to keep our projects running smoothly and successfully!
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering
- Professional engineer registration
- 5 or more years of highway design experience
- Experience using Micro Station computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software to develop plans, profiles, typical sections, cross-sections, and quantity take-offs for construction phase estimates on highway design projects for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) or other Virginia localities would be a plus.
- Experience developing 3D-engineered models in Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD) is desired, but many factors will be considered.
