Description
We are seeking American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to support our software developers and engineers in meeting their mission requirements. This candidate will provide in‑house translations, facilitate communication among staff and customers, bridge communication gaps in secure meetings, and work on a part‑time, as‑needed basis. Occasional travel for conferences and customer site meetings may be required.

Location
Vienna, VA. Candidates must reside within a 30‑minute commute to our office and attend scheduled onsite meetings Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm as needed.

Required

• U.S. citizen (no exceptions), eligible for a U.S. government security clearance
• BS degree in ASL, Communication, Psycholinguistics, Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or a related field
• At least 1 year of professional experience as an ASL interpreter
• Certification from a recognized organization (ASL, RID, NIC, NAD, BEI, etc.)
• Ability to provide quality ASL‑spoken English interpretation promptly
• Reliable transportation to and from the Vienna, VA area for secure meetings
• Active engagement with best practices in interpreting services and resources
• Basic computer skills and proficiency

Desired

• Experience in a business/government setting with complex technical verbiage
• Knowledge of computer programming languages and software developer terminology
• Prior experience translating for software developers
• RID Certified interpreter
• Experience training staff on requesting interpretation services appropriately
• Experience providing recommendations to leadership to ensure adequate services for deaf and hard‑of‑hearing individuals

Salary And Other Compensation
