Primary Purpose

Act as a subject matter expert and program owner of environmental management areas such as avian, wildlife, water, air, hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, PCB management, USDOT, spill prevention, industrial services, recycling and pollution prevention. Evaluate program performance and initiate changes toward continuous improvement. Provide support to Exelon management and field professionals in developing, planning, evaluating and implementing compliance/pollution prevention/lifecycle management programs.

Manage, coordinate, direct and monitor field activities of contractors to ensure adherence to contract and regulatory requirements. Oversee personnel, consultants and vendors as needed. Establish a consistent environmental services platform, adhere to the Environmental Management System, and develop systems or processes for emerging business needs. Position may require extended hours during storms or emergencies.

Primary Duties
  • Develop and direct environmental programs and regulatory requirements for avian, wildlife, air, water and other regulatory compliance. Serve as subject matter expert for the company and support business initiatives. Prepare environmental standards, alerts and training materials. Lead or advise environmental staff on permitting, issue management, auditing and program development. (20%)
  • Develop procedures to meet compliance elements, improve efficiencies, identify gaps and implement cost‑effective solutions. Assist with complex environmental issues and prepare reports and metrics. Build relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders. (20%)
  • Engage with Operations to provide consultation and technical support, including impact analysis and compliance strategies. Oversee consultants and budgets. (15%)
  • Provide written comments and public testimony on regulatory proposals. Direct environmental studies for permits and regulatory requirements. Review legislative developments for potential impacts. (15%)
  • Establish processes to monitor compliance performance and manage Environmental Programs within budget. Provide direction on proposed regulatory requirements. (10%)
  • Maintain the Environmental Management Information System to track metrics and regulatory requirements. (10%)
  • Participate in industry and regulatory groups and technical committees to enhance technical expertise. (5%)
  • Respond to incidents, inform agencies, mobilize contractors and oversee remediation. Participate in root‑cause evaluations and preventive actions. (5%)
Job Scope
  • Coordinate and influence environmental programs across cross‑functional departments and external stakeholders. Provide supervisory oversight of consultants and contractors. Negotiate and make decisions in ambiguous project settings while managing significant financial responsibilities.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, leveraging education and experience to achieve goals.
