The Villa Rica Public Library seeks someone passionate about literacy and community to join our team. The successful candidate will have a great working knowledge of books and book trends for all ages, be able to help patrons with simple and in-depth computer questions, offer material recommendations & assistance, and problem-solve with patrons as their needs arise. We are looking for someone passionate about bringing our community together and helping all our residents thrive.

We believe libraries are more than places to find books. They are community anchors and where everyone should feel welcome, valued, and supported. The library is where we learn, grow, and thrive together.

This position will primarily support the Circulation Desk and the Children’s Room, with a particular focus on creating an inviting environment and helping children and families have positive experiences at the library.

What You’ll Do
  • Help patrons check out materials and complete tasks at the circulation desk
  • Provide accurate, friendly, and efficient customer service
  • Answer computer & technology questions within Chrome and Microsoft ecosystems
  • Help patrons find materials, programs, and services
  • Shelve, process, and retrieve materials
  • Help maintain the Children’s Room as a clean, organized, attractive, and inviting space.
  • Create programs and assist with programs
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Help the library remain clean, organized, and filled with creative energy
  • Follow PINES, City of Villa Rica, and West Georgia Regional Library System policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications What We’re Looking For

  • Has a strong interest in literacy, reading, and childhood learning
  • Basic computer and technology skills
  • Ability to interact effectively and courteously with the public while delivering services
  • Ability to perform a variety of clerical tasks
  • Enjoy working with diverse populations
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects
  • Ability to think creatively to develop and run programs
  • Good oral and written communication skills
