Position Summary
This position will report to the Sr Industrial Engineer and will be responsible for being a technical expert and resource for the Sugar Foods Operations organization. The IE intern will assist in large-scale industrial engineering projects, conduct process and data analyses, and contribute to operational improvements. This role offers hands-on experience in engineering problem-solving, project support, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Project Support:
Lead or assist in engineering projects using MS Office Applications - Process Analysis:
Perform time studies, process mapping, and cost-benefit analyses to develop standards for current and new processes - Operational Support:
Support logistics operations with reporting, business analysis, and data management - Research & Improvement:
Research best practices, labor productivity programs, and continuous improvement initiatives - Design & Layout:
Assist in layout design and equipment placement as needed - Collaboration:
Participate in group meetings, provide feedback, and work with other interns or team members - Quality & Cost Goals:
Contribute to achieving performance, cost, and quality targets
- Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and adjust priorities as necessary
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications, (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and MS Project)
- Proficient in Visio, SQL systems, and AutoCAD
- Ability to perform process/data analysis, time studies, and cost-benefit evaluations
- Prior internship or project work in engineering or manufacturing preferred
