Overview
Journeyman Lineman - Non-union - ULCS — Utility Lines Construction Services
Responsibilities- Works from aerial device installing and repairing overhead distribution lines and equipment.
- Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.
- Makes primary connections and terminations.
- Assists with assembling material on the ground to be installed by the line person and assists with the installation.
- Makes secondary connections at transformers.
- Assists with pulling in new wire and sagging.
- Assists with replacing and setting new poles.
- Works from the ground and clears work areas to maintain safe job site conditions.
- Interacts with the public and property owners to communicate work to be performed.
- Participates in safety training and adheres to regional safety policies.
- Operates tools such as hammers, wrenches, drills, come-alongs, jackhammers, power tampers, and related handling equipment.
- Works around noise and hazardous energized parts or equipment with appropriate PPE.
- Performs all other duties as requested by Supervisors.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Familiar with building two and three transformer bank poles.
- Ability to:
- work with hands above head for extended periods.
- meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by manufacturers.
- safely enter and exit aerial devices and bucket/derrick trucks.
- effectively cover up to safely complete work on energized lines and equipment.
- work efficiently from heights, follow directions, and work safely and productively.
- work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call-out work.
- climb wooden poles.
- 4+ years of trade experience required.
- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
- DOT medical card is required within 90 days of employment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license preferred within 90 days of employment.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
- RARE (up to 10%): sitting, crawling
- OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, climbing, reading, pushing, balancing
- FREQUENT (up to 66%): walking, manual dexterity, seeing distant, climbing on/off truck, gripping, lifting 10–50 lbs, reaching, depth perception, carrying, pulling, climbing ladders/stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs
- CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): standing, speaking clearly, seeing, hearing, color vision
