The Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an employee eager to support the safe and successful outcomes for children and families. The applicant will serve as administrative support to the child welfare case worker and will have contact with children and/or agency clientele. While a background in the Child Welfare field is not required, the applicant should possess genuine care, compassion and concern for supporting the mission of keeping children safe while helping families become self‑sufficient.

Three years of experience in social services; OR Six years of full‑time experience in any field; OR A bachelor’s degree.
Experience Substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
- Assisting the Child Welfare Specialist in gathering information for the Assessment of Family Functioning, typing court reports, legal documents, correspondence, forms, and entering information into the Family Assessment Tracking System.
- Assisting in the searches for relatives and the most appropriate placement or change of placement for a child.
- Developing/maintaining tracking processes to ensure compliance with case activities such as home visits, Family Team Meetings, Coming Due Events, etc.
- Transporting clients to and from appointments, picking them up from home and facility and bringing them back home.
- Attending relevant trainings and meetings, as needed, to enhance duties of the job.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Appointment Type:
This position may be filled as a probationary appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probationary appointments; it may also be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.
Work Schedule:
Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and are dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.

Compensation:
Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $16.42 per hour.
