Role Summary
The Coach Mentor is a 12-month, part-time position that coaches, mentors, facilitates executive function strategies, advises students, and supports the continued operations and development of the Blazers Achieve Student Support Services program.
Responsibilities
- Coaches and mentors students in need of strategies/services to enhance their academic success and maintains accurate student services.
- Records student services in the database.
- Recruits and conducts intake procedures at Trailblazer Kickoff and PreVUs (some are on Saturday).
- Facilitates record-keeping, database management, purchasing, and inventory and utilizes standard office equipment.
- Facilitates transitioning strategies from high school to postsecondary setting.
- Coordinates services with community agencies and other campus departments.
- Works as a collaborative team member.
- Participates and travels for professional development, including TRIO Priority training.
- Works some evenings for workshops, field trips, Business Dinner, etc.
- Provides scheduled office hours for student consultation.
- Participates in program assessment.
Your Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in education, social work, business, technology, or related field required. Bachelor’s preferred.
- Work experience (i.e., minimum one year) providing educational/coaching/mentoring services to underrepresented populations (e.g., diverse cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, students with disabilities) required.
- Ability to foster a safe, positive learning environment for students.
Supplemental Skills / Experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or similar software.
- Ability to learn or knowledge of Banner, Blackboard LMS, Degree Works, or other databases and software.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
