Description

The Stamping Production Engineering Tool & Die Specialist is responsible for supporting and optimizing stamping operations within a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility. This role ensures that stamping processes meet quality, efficiency, and safety standards in alignment with ISO 14001 requirements. The specialist collaborates closely with manufacturing, maintenance, quality and engineering teams to troubleshoot stamping issues, implement process improvement, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include review of die designs of metal stamping tool to meet production and quality standards, oversight of fabrication, testing, and debugging of new/old tools and dies, collaboration with product design engineers, machine engineers, and manufacturing team to ensure a seamless integration of new tools into the production process, maintenance of detailed documentation of tool designs, modifications, and maintenance activities, and development and implementation of maintenance procedures and schedules to enhance tool longevity and reliability.

The specialist troubleshoots and resolves issues with existing tools to minimize downtime and improve efficiency, assists in repairs of tooling in the event of catastrophic failures, conducts thorough inspections and testing of tools to identify potential problems and takes corrective actions, recommends and implements improvements to enhance tool performance and reduce maintenance costs, and decides and implements workflow and programming for how product will be produced and assembled on the production line.

The role requires a strong understanding of stamping operations, metal forming processes, and automotive production standards, with a focus on achieving operational excellence, compliance, and environmental sustainability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment while maintaining a commitment to quality, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Requirements
  • Support and optimize stamping operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met.
  • Review project specifications to determine tooling needs.
  • Create and regularly update tooling and press machine installation, modification, and trail schedules.
  • Lead new tooling buy‑off activities.
  • Determine and plan the stamping layouts based on process needs, available space and utilities.
  • Create and maintain FMEA, MQC, and Tooling and Stamping Machine PM list and other supporting documentation for use by other departments.
  • Study and improve current production processes and tooling for SPM/GSPH and quality issues.
  • Redesign tooling for countermeasures and kaizens.
  • Help create capital budget.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF, ISO, and other applicable automotive industry standards.
  • Maintain and update tooling drawings as needed.
  • Oversee a variety of automated equipment designs and processes, such as Auto cranes, Auto loader, and Auto de‑stack.
  • Understand the Die Function and Press Function to help determine tooling and stamping machine issues.
  • Lead and understand the key elements of Quality Improvement.
  • Study and contribute for the tooling profitability including reduction of supporter cost.
  • Lead stamping cycle time calculation and analysis to determine reduction plans.
  • Investigate and resolve machinery, quality, and efficiency issues.
  • Travel to vendor locations to review equipment progress, both locally and in Japan.
  • Follow standardized work instruction, including all safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support production planning, quality objectives, and plant efficiency goals.

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Equivalent work experience in auto manufacturing will be considered.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD system.
  • Ability to use the tooling machinery to fix and make tooling.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
