Role

The Electrical Mechanic will report to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electromechanical systems that support our glass manufacturing operations. This role ensures reliable operation of production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure by applying knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs, motor controls, sensors, and mechanical components.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment, including furnaces, annealing lehrs, forming machines, conveyors, compressors, and utilities systems.
  • Diagnose malfunctions using testing equipment, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Install and service electrical wiring, conduit, switch gear, distribution panels, transformers, breakers, VFDs, and motor control centers.
  • Calibrate and replace sensors, relays, proximity switches, thermocouples, and control devices.
  • Support troubleshooting and adjustment of PLC-controlled equipment; work with engineering and vendors on advanced controls issues.
  • Perform equipment rebuilds and overhaul work as scheduled.
  • Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and repairs in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Comply with all safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, Arc Flash, and OSHA/plant safety procedures.
  • Assist in equipment upgrades, process improvement projects, and capital installation work.
  • Provide support to production personnel to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Abilities Needed To Perform Essential Functions
  • Strong hands‑on mechanical and electrical aptitude in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple work orders and PM schedules.
  • Clear communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and outside vendors.
  • Self‑directed and able to make sound technical decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (MP2 preferred) and general computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, documentation).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and working in hot or confined environments.
Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Minimum 3+ years of industrial electrical or electromechanical maintenance experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and facility safety regulations.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting PLCs, drives, and automation equipment.
Education Required
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or coursework in industrial maintenance, electromechanical systems, or related field preferred.
