OverviewPhar Merica is hiring a Pharmacy Technician in Vinton, VA. Join our closed-door pharmacy team where you’ll work in a non-retail environment dedicated to meeting the pharmaceutical needs of long-term care and senior living clients.
ScheduleRotating setup:
- Monday–Friday:
- 1st and 3rd weeks: 9:00 am–7:30 pm
- 2nd and 4th weeks: 11:30 am–10:00 pm or 12:30 pm–11:00 pm
- Rotating weekends: 8:30 am–7:00 pm
A pharmacy technician with a VA license is preferred.

- Fill prescription items as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy, package medications for dispensing and delivery, meeting accuracy and productivity standards.
- Label products appropriately.
- Participate in periodic inventory.
- Check drugs and supplies, stock shelves, remove expired items.
- Prepare medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments; may include non‑sterile compounding.
- Communicate with customers professionally.
- Process returned medications for credit or destruction.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Also perform at least one of the following:
- Work in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room;
- Work with automated machine to prepack drugs;
- Manage inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identify expired medications, managing to the pharmacy standard for Days on Hand;
- Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels (data entry);
- Mixes/packages IV medications, sanitizes IV room, equipment and hood;
- Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow);
- Performs other tasks as assigned
- Required:
High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a pharmacy setting; knowledge of medical terminology; computer skills; medication recognition; detail- and goal-oriented; team player; effective oral communication;
Pharmacy Technician license. - Desired:
Long‑Term Care pharmacy experience.
