WHLR is seeking to add a Property Accountant to our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive, professional, and client‑oriented attitude about the company with coworkers, tenants, clients and the public whether contact is by email, telephone or in person.
SALARY RANGE: $55,000-$65,000. Benefits include paid life, short‑ and long‑term insurance, 401K with company match, as well as medical, dental, vision, pet, accident, and critical illness insurance plans. - Prepare all month‑end journal entries to ensure financial statements reflect actual and complete results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for all properties assigned.
- Coordinate the distribution of financial information amount internal and external parties as necessary (including lending institutions).
- Ensure compliance with SOX directed internal controls (appropriate reviews).
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and documents for month end financial reviews.
- Assist with Audit requests.
- Prepare straight‑line rent calculations, acquisition journal entries for new properties, and lender escrow reimbursements.
- Update certain budget information as requested.
- Continuously consider new ways of performing roles and responsibility more effectively and efficiently.
- Perform other ad hoc analysis and assist with audit requests.
- Solid computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Avid, and MRI or similar.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work with little supervision and to seek help when needed.
- Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
- Associate's degree in accounting or related field required.
- 1 to 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate or related industry.
- 1+ years of experience with Property Accounting preferred.
