We produce frequent in-studio and on-location commercial photoshoots and are looking for energetic, detail-oriented Production Assistants to join our crew on a freelance, contract basis. We pride ourselves on having a fun, collaborative, and fast-paced set environment!
We are seeking a proactive Production Assistant (Photoshoots) to support our Creative Producer and Production Coordinator with local eCommerce and marketing shoots.
This is a great opportunity for someone eager to get into photo and video production. Every shoot is different, offering hands-on experience across multiple layers of commercial production—from wardrobe styling prep and set logistics to studio operations.
This is a flexible, as-needed contract position (1099 freelance). While the exact scope of work fluctuates month to month based on our production schedule, we frequently host multi-day shoot blocks (typically 3–4 days at a time) with plenty of ongoing work available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities- Garment & Sample Care: Unpack, steam, and organize apparel, footwear, and accessories on studio racks for easy on-set access.
- On-Set Support: Assist the production coordinator during shooting, including getting models into their next looks, executing quick outfit tweaks/adjustments, and maintaining product organization.
- Inventory & SKU Tracking: Check off clothing items against the shot list to ensure no SKUs or colorways are missed during production.
- Load-In & Logistics: Help pack, load, transport, and unload production gear and product samples between HQ and local studios/locations.
- Post-Shoot Wrap: Fold, repackage, and sort worn garments, separating damaged or dirty samples, and assist in returning gear to HQ.
- General Set Operations: Help with food/coffee orders, run occasional errands for production, and assist in keeping set energy light, professional, and on schedule.
- Location: Must reside locally in or near the Virginia Beach, VA area with reliable personal transportation.
- Physical Stamina: Able to stand and move continuously for 8-hour shoot days and comfortably lift up to 30–40 lbs (gear cases, clothing racks, product boxes) within reason.
- Mindset: Highly proactive with a strong work ethic—someone who sees what needs to be done and takes initiative without needing constant direction.
- Professionalism: Must exercise complete professionalism, respect, and discretion around talent and models during wardrobe changes.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Prior experience in garment care, fashion retail, or photo/video production is a plus, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are most important!
- Guaranteed 8-hour day rate ($160/day).
- Mileage reimbursement provided for any travel between HQ and studio locations.
- Meals, snacks, and coffee provided on shoot days.
- Opportunity for ongoing, repeat contract work with a fast-growing local brand.
