Summary

The City of Virginia Beach Public Utilities Department is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Utilities Account Representative to support the billing and revenue operations of the City’s water and sewer services. This position is responsible for monitoring delinquent utility accounts, assisting with the issuance of lines, releases of liens revisions of liens, processing lien responses, and preparing collection letters for closed accounts.

Job Duties:

• Conducting skip traces to verify current or locate new address
• Preparing collection letters for closed accounts
• Assist with issuance of liens, releases of liens, revisions of liens, and processing of lien responses
• Prepare payments for cashiering to accounts
• Assist taxpayers over the phone and in person regarding their account delinquency and collection processes
• Provide reports and updates to interested departments
• Previous experience in collections, billing, utilities, or customer service is a plus.
• Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and problem-solving.

Minimum/Special/

Additional Requirements:

• High school or GED or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge.
• Experience in collections, customer service, billing, or financial services.
