Cape Henry Collegiate, a leading independent, coeducational, PK-12, day school in Virginia Beach invites candidates to apply for substitute teaching positions.

Position Duties

Teaching students across multiple disciplines, encouraging each child to reach his/her potential.

Supervision and safety of children at all times of the day including arrival, recess, lunchtime, and dismissal.

Assisting students with social/emotional learning support and guiding them to make good decisions with emphasis on treating all students with dignity and respect.

Assuming full responsibility for the class in teacher’s absence.

Maintaining professional relationships with all members of the school community.

Education and Experience

Essential requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree and the ability to support the School's mission and core values. Applicants must be flexible and have a positive, nurturing approach to working with students. Past experience working in schools is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
