Role Overview

The Quality Engineer at Acoustical Sheet metal Company plays a critical role in maintaining and improving product quality for our back-up power generator packaging operations. This position ensures that all manufactured components and assemblies meet internal standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations. The Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement initiatives, support root cause analysis, and lead corrective and preventive action efforts throughout the plant.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards and control systems for production processes and finished goods.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action projects using problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone diagrams, etc.
  • Support production and engineering teams by analyzing process capabilities and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and analyze quality metrics, reports, and trend data to support proactive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address non-conformances, ensure proper corrective actions, and improve supplier quality performance.
  • Maintain communication with all organization departments on newly issued and outstanding Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs), Corrective Action Reports (CARs), driving follow through and completion.
  • Develop and update inspection procedures, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist in training production employees on quality awareness, inspection techniques, and compliance requirements.
  • Support and maintain ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is properly maintained and accessible for audits and customer reviews.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • On-Time Quality Documentation: 100% completion of quality reports and inspection documentation by required deadlines.
  • Corrective Action Effectiveness:
    Close CAPA items within 30 days with verified resolution and no repeat findings.
  • Internal and External Defect Tracking:
    Reduction in Defects Per Unit (DPU) observed, aligning with stated reduction goal percentages.
  • Punchlist Completion:
    Reduction in Punchlist Time To Close metrics
  • Repeat Findings:
    Elimination of repeat deficiency observations.
  • Audit Performance:
    Zero major non-conformances during internal or external audits.
Requirements Experience & Qualifications Education
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Internal Auditor Certified (ISO 9001:2005) preferred.
  • Formal Quality Management System education preferred.
  • Formal Business Management Systems education preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of quality engineering experience in an industrial or metal fabrication/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with welding, sheet metal, or power generation equipment manufacturing highly desirable.
  • Strong background in blueprint reading, and mechanical inspection techniques.
  • Experience in standards compliance and enforcement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in Continuous Improvement initiation, training, and follow through.
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis methodology and proven Corrective Action Implementation.
Skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally between engineering, production, and customer teams.
Work Environment
  • Industrial warehouse/manufacturing floor with exposure to machinery, noise, and fluctuating temperatures
  • Must wear appropriate PPE and follow all safety protocols
