The Federal Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Entry‑Level Urban Planner for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA or Virginia Beach, VA offices. The planner will serve on multi‑disciplinary planning projects primarily for U.S. military, Intelligence Community and other federal agencies, developing creative and innovative solutions to address clients’ issues.
Responsibilities- Compile data and conduct research in support of project delivery.
- Create graphics to support planning documents.
- Play a key role in the preparation of plans.
- Write sections of planning reports and documents.
- Produce material for project meetings and workshops.
- Participate in on‑site workshops in support roles.
- Communicate effectively with project team and manager.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture or related field.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning or related field.
- Highly prefer prior relevant internship or other experience.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, ArcGIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sketchup Pro, and AutoCAD.
- Working toward AICP certification.
- Positive outlook and can‑do attitude.
- Exceptional writing, research, analysis & communication skills.
- Excellent time management and ability to balance priorities.
- Effective problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as in multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Skilled at developing creative graphics and project layouts.
- Follows guidance well with little oversight.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
- Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization not available now or in the future.
Compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience and location, with a range of $70,000 to $90,000 annually.
