We have an exciting direct hire opportunity for an Electrical Designer/Programmer II-IIIat our Virginia Beach location!
As an Electrical Designer/Programmer II-III at Busch, you will design, program, and deliver innovative electrical control systems and automation solutions for vacuum pump systems tailored to client needs. This role encompasses varying levels of responsibility and leadership, from entry-level design support to leading teams in the absence of the Design Manager, depending on the level (II-III).
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional domestic or local travel.

Job Responsibilities- Proposal Development: Analyze client RFQs, clarify requirements, resolve discrepancies, and create compliant proposals for electrical/control panels and automation for vacuum systems, including circuit sizing, component specs, and safety calculations, adhering to NEMA, NEC, UL508A, UL1203, NFPA 496, and NFPA
79 standards. - Electrical and Controls Design: Generate and modify electrical and control system designs for automated vacuum systems, ensuring compatibility with customer specifications, standard, and custom applications. Select components such as PLCs, HMIs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and analog transmitters based on operational parameters.
- Programming: Develop, configure, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and VFD programs for automated vacuum systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality for standard and custom applications.
- Documentation: Create and maintain sequence of operations, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical wiring diagrams, and other engineering specification documents to guide system design, testing, and commissioning.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct bench tests and final system testing in production environments to validate conformance to design requirements, completing required quality documentation.
- Commissioning Support: Write start-up and commissioning procedures for electrical installations and provide on-site assistance, including personnel training on Busch vacuum systems.
- Project Support: Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to create bills of materials (BOMs), log project hours, and generate shop orders. Assist in preparing project cost and work-time estimates.

Collaboration:
Work with engineers, sales, and Agile teams to identify, define, and resolve technical issues, promoting solutions that align with business requirements. - Leadership (Level III): Lead the electrical engineering team in the absence of the Engineering Manager, supervise Electrical Designer/Programmers I and II, and contribute to the development of engineering guidelines and procedures.
- Customer and Sales Support: Provide technical input during customer visits with sales teams, deliver presentations to showcase system capabilities, and support marketing efforts to identify new market opportunities.
- Troubleshooting: Apply sound engineering principles to diagnose and resolve issues during system design, assembly, or operation.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support team and company objectives.
- Education
- Level II: Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (two-year college or technical school):
