Entry Level Transportation Engineer - Graduate

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s I-64 offices (Virginia Beach, VA; Richmond, VA; Williamsburg, VA) are seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join our team.

Our Transportation team works with public, private, and institutional clients to support a variety of projects. Our services include design of multilane highways and interchanges to the reconstruction of arterials and local roads, bridges, small intersection improvements, on- and off-street bicycle facilities, operational analysis, multimodal planning, conceptual design, parking analysis, and safety evaluations. We collaborate across our footprint with numerous other VHB groups on many of our transformative projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
• Assist in development of planning and engineering solutions
• Assist in data mining and visualization
• Perform analysis of data or calculations
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
• Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports

Skills and Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
• Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering
• 0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experience required
• EIT/EI preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months

The full-time annual base salary range for this position,located in Virginia, is $77,000 to $79,000. The base salary offered will bedeterminedbased on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factorspermittedby law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only.

Annual base salary is onecomponentof VHB’s Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
