Virginia Beach, VA (NAS Oceana). Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is a DoD contractor specializing in range operations and maintenance, weapons testing, facilities management, targets O&M, engineering support, systems integration, electronics and communications maintenance services, and growing cybersecurity. We support the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) and work with partners to integrate ranges into the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).
SA-TECH is hiring for a LVC Engineering Tech IV (LATR OPS) at NAS Oceana to support Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) Operations, reporting to the LVC Operations Manager.
- Draws on experience in U.S. Navy fleet operations to support staffs ashore and afloat conducting fleet exercises.
- Support U.S. Navy/Marine Corps fleet operational training by applying system analysis and design skills in portable workstation interoperability, shipboard LAN, and computer systems imbedded tracking and display systems.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the LATR system, Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) and associated displays and computer applications used for aircraft and ship tracking displays and debriefs.
- Install, setup, monitor, and debrief various LATR operations.
- Aid in coordinating instrumentation and support for major multi-platform operations and exercises including fixed and rotary wing, ship, and surface participants.
- Install and de-install LDTS at remote sites using SIPRNET, CANES and other networking systems, coordinating with shipboard and staff ITs.
- Transport, install and de-install Iridium Tracking Units (ITU) on ships, vehicles, and landing craft to bases and facilities onboard naval vessels as required.
- Coordinate between LATR, CVW, MEU and NSWC detachments, fleet operators and other work centers to provide LATR services.
- Provide technical support to hosting naval entities by collecting and preparing exercise participant information from multiple sources including LATR, TCTS, Galaxy GPS, MIDAS, OTCIX, Link 16, JBUS, and track data logs for presentation and analysis.
- Collect and combine data into a single-source debrief product SIMDIS ASI replays and provide the debrief product to designated agencies.
- Support other exercises as approved by NSWC Corona.
- Mission Commanders and Quality Assurance may review work for compliance with accepted practices.
- Train and provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
- Document maintenance actions in IEMS.
- Provide recommendations to improve or expand operations in maintenance, engineering, and logistics support.
- Ensure economy of operation by improving work methods and procedures.
- Operate TCTS components including Live Monitor (LM), Mission Line-Up (MLU), Firewall (FW), EWS, EW-MUX, RADS, JDS, and PCDS; operate and ensure current software for LATR computers.
- Be operationally qualified as designated tech level within one year of hiring or promotion.
- Manage TCTS Operations and Maintenance functions per contract requirements.
- Oversee mission support from scenario development to live support and post-mission debrief/evaluation.
- Ensure quality of contractor range functions including operations, scheduling, technical library, security, training, safety, supply, quality assurance, configuration management, and documentation.
- Support the Configurations Management program.
- Comply with contract requirements and take corrective action when necessary.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems.
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Formal education equivalent to Navy "C" School or vocational training in computers, electronics, or Operations Specialist, or similar.
- Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience supporting growth into this management position.
- Demonstrable experience with U.S. Navy fleet operations, supporting staffs ashore and afloat conducting fleet exercises.
- Ability to communicate technical and planning information verbally and in writing.
- Maintain cognizance of developments in the assigned field of expertise.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Security+ certification.
- Physically able to deploy onboard a naval ship and to remote sites for up to five weeks at a time, one to two times a year.
- Current Driver's License; must be insurable according to company policy for driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and for employment duration.
- U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire and maintain a Secret clearance.
- All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
